Sülüklü Lake

Sülüklü Lake is in the west of the Black Sea Region, in the far west of Bolu, near to the Sakarya province's borders. The lake in Mudurnu district is accessible via Tavşansuyu Village after a two-hour journey from İstanbul and is three hours from Ankara. Sülüklü Lake is a landslide embankment lake formed as a result of an earthquake that occurred 300 years ago at an average altitude of 1200 meters. The area, which was a forest before the earthquake, turned into a lake with the water coming from the rivers in the region as a result of the earthquake. When the water level decreases in summer, it is possible to see the tops of the trees in the lake. The lake is home to a variety of freshwater fish, particularly trout and carp. It is also possible to make discoveries by diving in the lake, among these trees and accompanied by fish.
