Sebaste Archaeological Site

The city of Sebaste was founded by Roman Emperor Augustus in 20 BCE with the name of Sebaste. It is one of the 12 important cities in the Roman Period. In the 9th century CE, it became the episcopal see of the surrounding cities. There are two churches in the city, which experienced its most magnificent times during the Eastern Roman Period.
