Pınara Archaeological Site
The ancient city of Pınara, located 40 kilometers from Fethiye and 2 kilometers from Minare village, was established on the high hill of Mount Kragos by elders from Xanthos. It became one of the six cities with three voting rights in the Lycian Union. The city's name, meaning "round" in Lycian, is reflected in the shape of its upper acropolis. Pınara boasts structures such as a bath, theater, agora, odeon, rock tombs, and both upper and lower acropolises. As the upper acropolis became insufficient, the lower acropolis developed, with structures like the odeon, agora, and temples. The rock tombs in Pınara provide insights into Lycian civil architecture, with one tomb, possibly belonging to a prince, depicting a city surrounded by walls.
