Pepouza Archaeological Site
It is the place where a Christian sect called “montanism” originated. According to written sources, the city had a Eastern Roman monastery. On the three floors of monastery, more than sixty rooms, dining hall, chapel, kitchen, cross-shaped Eastern Roman graffiti and Eastern Roman pottery were found. Spring water in the eastern part of Ulubey Canyon (Ulubey Kanyonu) was brought to the city of Pepouza, which was thought to be a large settlement, with the help of the Clandıras Aqueduct (Clandıras Su Kemeri).
