The Malazgirt Museum is located in the Malazgirt district and commemorates the Battle of Manzikert fought in 1071 between the Eastern Roman Empire and the Seljuk Turks. The battle is significant in Turkish-Islamic history due to its religious, national, political, and military implications. The museum, established in 2021, features animated depictions of the battle with miniatures representing the Seljuk Army and the Eastern Roman Empire. Additionally, the museum showcases cultural artifacts from various regions of Türkiye, such as the Taksim Tram, offering a glimpse into the historical texture of the Ottoman period. The museum also includes sections dedicated to the Republican Era and War Heroes, displaying photographs of key historical events and figures like Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. By presenting Turkish-Islamic history through visuals and thematic displays, the Malazgirt Museum aims to enhance visitors' historical and cultural awareness using local tools, handicrafts, and materials reflecting the region's cultural heritage.
Muş Castle (Muş Kalesi) is in the city centre of Muş. Although the castle is believed to be one of the oldest buildings in the city, its date of construction is not known. What is known is that the castle witnessed many battles following the Mongol invasion in the mid-seventh century, during the time of Caliph Osman (Uthman). Destroyed cemeteries can be observed on the west side of the castle. This area has been made into a park by the Muş Municipality and is one of the most popular recreation areas for Muş residents.
