Mersin Atatürk House Museum

Mersin Atatürk House and Museum is located on Atatürk Street, one of the most important and busiest streets in the city center of Mersin. The building was originally constructed in 1897 as a residence for Mr. Christman, the German Consul at the time, upon his marriage to a woman from the Mavromati family of Mersin. Over time, it became known as Krizman Mansion and later as the Mavromati family mansion. Until 1972, it was owned by the Tahinci family and was then purchased by Nebil Hayfavi, serving as Toros College until 1976. The building was renamed Atatürk House by the municipality in 1976, and after being expropriated in 1980, restoration work began. It was handed over to the Ministry of Culture and opened as a museum in 1992. The ground floor of the Mersin Atatürk House and Museum features a section titled "Atatürk with Photographs and Documents," showcasing 22 personal items of Atatürk brought from Ankara and the Anıtkabir Museum. The upper floor displays ethnographic artifacts, with two of the seven rooms designated as bedrooms, one as a study, and four as living rooms.
