The city has a prehistoric heritage dating back to the Paleolithic Age, with evidence of Neolithic and Chalcolithic Period farmers found in excavations at sites like Hacılar and Kuruçay. The museum in Burdur showcases significant findings from Sagalassos and other ancient cities, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, including fragments of massive statues of the Roman emperor Hadrian.

Grand Mosque

Artuklu Dönemi mimari örneklerinden, dilimli kubbesi ve minaresiyle Mardin’in sembolü olan Mardin Grand Mosque kayıtlara göre iki minareli inşa edilmiştir. Mosquenin bugün mevcut olan tek minaresinin kare kaidesindeki yazıt, yapım tarihini 1176 olarak vermektedir, fakat bugünkü minare 1888/1889 yıllarında yeni ve elektik bir üslupla yapılmıştır. Bazı Süryani yazarlar kiliseden çevrildiğini söylerler. Yapı kiliseden çevrilmemiş olsa bile, yerinde eski bir kilisenin bulunması muhtemeldir.Yapı 12'nci yüzyıl Artuklu Dönemi mimarisinin temel özelliklerini yansıtır. Erken dönemde özellikle güneydoğuda meydana çıkan, mihrap önü kubbeli enine gelişen Mosque plan ve formunun çok önemli bir örneğidir. Yapının malzemesi düzgün kesme taştır. Grand Mosque’nin kubbesi dıştan yivleme tekniğiyle yapılmıştır. İlk olarak bu binada kullanılmış ve sonraları Mardin’de gelenek halini almıştır ki bazı geç dönem Artuklu yapılarında karakteristiktir. Mosquenin dikdörtgen avlusu kuzeyinde kalır. Avlunun güneyinde mihrap duvarına paralel, beşik tonozlu üç neften oluşan, mihrap duvarına yakın iki nefin kubbe ile kesildiği, enine gelişmiş, mihrap önü kubbeli bir şema görülür. Bu şema, aynı zamanda, çevredeki birçok yapı tarafından taklit edilmiş bir modeldir.

Clock Tower

The Historical Clock Tower (Tarihi Saat Kulesi) is a landmark of Burdur. Set in the city centre, the tower was erected in 1936. The cut-stone tower has four clocks, each facing one direction of the city.

Taş Oda Mansion

Located in Burdur’s Pazar Neighborhood, the Taş Oda Mansion (Taş Oda Konağı) is a fine example of 17th-century Ottoman civil architecture. With a stone-built lower floor and an upper floor made of wood and mudbrick, the mansion is notable for its main room adorned with stone carvings and upper-floor decorations with gold and silver leaf, offering visitors glimpses of the past. Transferred to Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in 2013, the mansion provides a pleasant experience in a historical setting with breakfast and beverages available in its courtyard. Open to visitors every day of the week, Taş Oda Mansion is a significant part of Burdur’s cultural heritage.

Serenler Hill Nature Park

Declared a natural park in 2011, Serenler Hill (Serenler Tepesi) features a splendid view of Lake Burdur. It is approximately 4 km from the Burdur city centre. The daily use area of the park includes a rustic restaurant, an observation point, a children’s playground, picnic and barbecue areas, dishwashing units, a parking lot, restrooms and fountains. Visitors to the park can enjoy cycling, hiking, picnics, photography, and wildlife and bird watching.

Bakibey Mansion

Beautifully reflecting the historical architectural texture of Burdur while illuminating its history, some of the city’s well-preserved mansions include the Bakibey Mansion (Bakibey Konağı), located in the centre in Değirmenler Neighborhood. This two-story structure, built on a stone foundation, is a fine example of 17th-century Ottoman civil architecture. Known also as the "Koca Oda", the mansion’s lower floor contains sections like a stable and storage rooms, while the upper floor features a spacious eyvan and the intricately decorated başoda, the main salon. The başoda stands out with its ornate decorations, including gilded pencil work with gold and silver leaf details.

Dervis Mehmet Pasha Library

The Derviş Mehmet Paşa Library, located on Oluklaraltı Street in the center of Burdur, is a historical building constructed in 1816 by Grand Vizier Derviş Mehmet Paşa. As an elegant example of Ottoman architecture, the library holds an important place in Burdur’s cultural heritage. Reopened to visitors after restoration work in 2013, the library offers history and culture enthusiasts a treasure of knowledge preserved from the past to the present.

Hoca Bali Bath

The Hodja Bali Bath (Hoca Bali Hamamı) was built in 1582. Featuring the typical characteristics of a 16th-century Turkish bath, the hammam is important among the historical and cultural symbols of Burdur. Restoration work continues with the landscaping of the bath building.

Sheikh Sinan Mosque

In the centre of Burdur, the Sheikh Sinan Mosque (Şeyh Sinan Cami) is one of the oldest mosques in the city and its history dates from the 1800s. The tombs in the courtyard of the mosque are believed to belong to important clergy members and scholars who lived in that period. The mosque’s elegant minaret, made of Burdur stone, draws attention.
