Gaziantep Mevlevi Culture and Foundation Works Museum
The Gaziantep Mevlevi Culture and Foundation Works Museum is located in a historical Mevlevihane dating back approximately 400 years, converted into a museum in 2007 after being used for various purposes. It houses important historical foundations and inscriptions related to its establishment in 1638, including the Mustafa Ağa bin Yusuf Foundation, Emine Hatun Foundation, and Mehmet Munip Efendi Foundation. The museum consists of two main buildings, one with three floors and the other with two, reflecting Gaziantep's traditional residential architecture and featuring distinctive architectural elements like low-arched windows and bird decorations. Inside, visitors can explore a collection of carpets and rugs symbolizing Anatolian culture, accompanied by information on motifs and their meanings. The museum also showcases calligraphy plates, oil lamps, and metal art pieces, providing insight into Mevlevi culture and Turkish craftsmanship. The museum serves as a memory of Gaziantep's Republican era and is a significant stop on the historical route starting from the castle, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's rich heritage and architectural history.
