Gazi Museum

Built in 1902 by Jean Ionnis Mantika as a hotel in the city of Samsun on the Black Sea coastline, the building was named in honor of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s stay here when he arrived in Samsun in May 1919. This event marked the beginning of Türkiye’s struggle for liberation and granted the building historical significance. On 12 June 1926, it was presented as a gift to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk by the people of Samsun. The upper hall of the museum, which houses 191 items, also exhibits the wax sculptures of the 18 comrades who arrived in Samsun with Atatürk on 19 May 1919.
