The capital of civilization, culture, art and science, Archaeological Site of Miletus (Milet) is one of the most important settlements in human history with its 3,500-years old history. The city, which is regarded as the centre of positive science, is hometown of people who questioned nature in order to understand it. Also known as the "city of philosophers", Miletus has raised many historical figures such as the philosophers Thales, Anaksimandros and Anaksimenes and the city planner Hippodamos. Miletus, dominated by free thought 2,600 years ago, became a centre of attraction, and turned into the largest city of the Ionian civilization. It became a cosmopolitan city attracting people from all over the world.
The Adnan Menderes Democracy Museum is located in a building that replicates the house where Adnan Menderes spent his youth, known as the towered house. The museum aims to accurately portray the life and legacy of Adnan Menderes, the ninth Prime Minister of Türkiye. The museum's layout follows a chronological order, with displays on Menderes' life and the 1960 coup d'état on the ground floor. The second floor features a spherical 360° immersive display showcasing the Democratic Party's foundation, values, mission, events, policies, and more. Personal belongings of Adnan Menderes, including his official state vehicle and a historically significant tractor manufactured in 1955, are also on display at the museum.
