Bandırma Ferry Museum

Bandırma Ferry was an Ottoman mixed-freight ship. It became famous for its historical role in taking Atatürk, the founding father of the Republic of Türkiye, from İstanbul to Samsun in May 1919 that marked the establishment of the Turkish national movement. The project initiated by the Governorship of Samsun in 1999 for the construction of a replica of the Bandırma ferry that carried Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to Samsun with his comrades in arms from İstanbul was completed in 2001 and officially opened in 2003. As a result of the landscaping studies and additions made by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality in the following years, Bandırma Ferry and National Struggle Park have been turned into an Open-Air Museum.
