Alinda's history dates back to 2000 BCE, though most surviving ruins are from the 4th century BCE. The city is notably linked to Queen Ada, who was exiled to Alinda after being overthrown by her brother, Piksodaros. When Alexander the Great arrived in Caria, Ada allied with him, leading to her reinstatement as the ruler of Caria. Alinda's key structures include the Agora, a three-story building, and a well-preserved Hellenistic theatre. The city's aqueduct, standing on four pillars, is another highlight. The necropolis features chamber tombs carved into rock, showcasing the typical Carian style.
